Volunteer Registration Assistant - Ontario Geothermal Conference



Company Information

Founded in 1968, the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) is a non-profit national trade association of manufacturers, wholesalers and contractors in the Canadian heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industries.

The Ontario Geothermal Association (OGA) is a not-for-profit organization representing geothermal energy system designers, drillers, installers, equipment manufacturers and distributors to advance Ontario’s geothermal heating and cooling industry.  The OGA strives to be a bridge between consumers, government and industry professionals while acting as a voice to increase awareness for the importance of working towards the use of a greener, cleaner and self-sustainable energy source.

 The OGA was established in June of 2009 and on April 16, 2013 they were proud to announce that OGA and HRAI entered into a formal agreement making OGA an affiliated association of HRAI.


Job Description

  • Greet conference attendees

  • Provide conference badges to registrants

  • Provide information to attendees (i.e. conference schedule and directions)

  • Produce badges for delegates who register on-site via printer

  • Direct speakers, exhibitors and sponsors to appropriate liaison

  • Runner: assist with set up and tear down, get additional supplies, provide exhibit support, make copies, change registration signs, and meet the needs of the conference organizer

  • Monitor event for potential risks and relay to organizer

  • Note: only HRAI staff or OGA board member(s) will handle on-site payments

  • Note: The above role is an unpaid volunteer position. Volunteers may be asked to change roles or complete tasks in both roles throughout the event.

  • Experience, Skills & Characteristics

    • Experience assisting with events

    • Experience with Microsoft Word

    • Strong organizational skills

    • Strong interpersonal skills

    • Strong problem solving skills

    • Characteristics: team player, initiative-taker, quick-thinker, friendly

    • Time Commitment

      • Orientation Day: February 15th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

      • Event Day 1: February 21st from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. *dinner provided*

      • Event Day 2: February 22nd from 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. *breakfast & lunch provided*
