The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, permanent Maintenance Supervisor to work in the Plant Operations and Maintenance department. Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, recruiting and assessing the job performance of staff. You will be responsible for budget preparation and ensuring staffing levels are appropriate. Your accountabilities include facilitating work schedules; processing payroll for staff; acting on behalf of management in labour relations matters and administering the collective agreement. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program for all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. You will also be responsible for auditing and recommending modifications of systems, component and operating maintenance procedures. You will perform inventory and product audits and ensures proper equipment is available. You will liaise with external contacts regarding management services. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position requires flexibility in hours and the ability to work at all sites.
The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma, along with the successful completion of a Heating/Refrigeration apprenticeship program and a Forth Class Stationary Engineer. You are required to have or working towards a CET and/or RPA designation. You will have a minimum 8-10 years experience in Plant, Operations and Maintenance and 2-3 years of experience supervising staff in a unionized setting. Previous experience working in a steam producing power plant would be considered an asset. Experience in a health care setting and specifically at a large mental health or addictions hospital is preferred. You will have good organizational and time management skills and be able to manage and direct many tasks simultaneously. Proven ability to make decisions quickly and deal tactfully with patients and staff is an asset. A positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to effectively communicate work instructions and expectations to staff, both verbally and in writing, along with monitor quality of work are essential. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and communities is essential. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
