Job Description

Our downtown Non Profit client has an immediate need for a Benefits Specialist for a 12 month contract.  

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for the full benefits administration in a unionized environment.


As the Benefits Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Administer Employee Benefits plan and provide processing information of enrolments and changes to coverage;

  • Prepare all documentation and advise on transactions: pay, incremental allowances, leave with and without pay and other;

  • Process pay with authorized payroll

  • Issues related to Pension Members, LTD & WSIB employer statements, guidance to employees and retirees on benefits;

  • Follow-up to collective bargaining agreement changes related to compensation and benefits;

  • Liaise with stakeholders that include third party vendors and government agencies, new employees;

  • Participate in annual audit and ad hoc reports in response to internal and external stakeholders;

  • Liaise with Finance and Payroll teams for accurate deductions.


About You:


The ideal Benefits Specialist will have the following qualifications:


  • A minimum of 5 years of HR & Employee benefits in a union environment;

  • Completion of post-secondary program, preferably in accounting and a CPM Designation or a CGA, or CMA (final stages);

  • ADP, Kronos, Great Plains, Microsoft Office Suite;

  • Basic accounting and auditing principles;

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
