Job Description

We are currently looking for an success driven Public Staff Accountant to join our client’s growing business in Ottawa, for an up to 4 month contract with the possibility of full-time.


In this role, the Public Staff Accountant will be responsible for duties that will include:

  • Preparation of regular external filings such as HST, WSIB & payroll;

  • Account reconciliation and bookkeeping tasks following established processes;

  • Preparation of T4, T5’s, Personal Income Tax Returns (T1, terminal, T3 & T5);

  • Analyzing accounts up to trial balance and preparing reconciliations;

  • Assisting in the preparation of year-end working papers and financial statements;

  • Communicating with CRA on behalf of clients.


About You:


The ideal Staff Accountant will have:

  • Strong customer service skills and a positive, can-do attitude;

  • University degree or college diploma in accounting or business administration;

  • 2-4 yeas CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) designation or working towards designation would be an asset;

  • Previous experience with iFirm Software & CRM software would be an asset;

  • Strong communication skills. Bilingualism would be considered an asset;

  • Knowledge of financial management areas including GAAP and Financial Reporting and Analysis standards and Internal Controls principles;

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, strong organizational skills along with an exceptional ability to prioritize and multitask;

  • Advanced level Excel skills.
