Job Description

Job Type: Full-time

We are in immediate need of an Accounting Manager located in our office in Markham, Ontario.

The successful candidate will lead an accounting group of 5-6 staff with all aspects of financial reporting, accounting management, risk management & controls, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must have supervisory experience
  • Day to day functions include overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax filing and other monthly reporting as required
  • Supervise year end audits and preparation of statutory filings
  • Post daily transactions in the ERP system/ working knowledge of Great Plains
  • Review and approve new vendor contracts as required
  • Assist and resolve customer/vendor concerns and complaints as required
  • Participate in invoicing, vendor payment, payroll and management reporting
  • Ad hoc reporting as required by Senior Management

The overarching role is to act as the technical accounting lead, supporting management to assist in the evaluation of business activities and support of the organization’s growth.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCES

  • CPA designation
  • Post secondary education in Finance or Business
  • 5 years + of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience
  • Experience in positively managing and empowering staff
  • Demonstrable sophisticated oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to present complex finance and business information to management in an instructive and relevant manner
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders including external support entities (Legal, Accounting, Government agencies).
