Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services, the Director, Finance and Accounting
will contribute to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks for the organization.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
• Be responsible for and manage Accounting, Payroll, Financial Systems and Financial
• Deliver cost effective and efficient accounting and financial systems, policies and
• Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports based on
IFRS. Review monthly results and implement/provide monthly variance report to the
various business units
• Oversee the External Audit, review and analyze results and recommend for approval the
Audited Financial Statements to the Board's Audit Committee and external auditors
• Develop and oversee the Internal Review function to ensure that finance and operations
controls and policies are complied with
• Lead the annual budgeting process, while establishing guidelines for budget and forecast
• Prepare the annual budget package for the Finance Audit Committee and the Board
Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to business partners
• Lead financial modeling and analysis to support the development of long term strategic
initiatives and business plans
• Develop / implement /enhance an Activity Based Costing model for services and products
including product and customer profitability models
• Design, evolve, and maintain the corporate performance measurement process,
incorporating both financial and nonfinancial measures, to promote and support high
standards of corporate performance
• Design, evolve and maintain the risk inventory log in support of the enterprise risk
management (ERM) framework and monitoring of the tolerance indicators
• Responsible for the management of cash flow and maintain a long-term cash forecast
• Perform financial analysis & transactions for the company restructuring and M&A activities

• Lead and coach the team to deliver the highest standard of departmental, cross
departmental and cross functional teamwork and customer service
• Participate in national credit union wide projects and take a part in the steering
committees & provide valuable analysis and tools
• Support the various business units by providing analysis and support and make
recommendations as to various courses of action
• Develop the financial management reporting tools that measure the effectiveness of the
business strategy while supporting business goals
• Foster a continuous improvement culture within the Finance and Accounting team, as
well as with the broader organization
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Degree in business, finance or related, accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA); CPA
• A minimum 8-10 years of experience in Finance, Planning & Analysis, and General
Accounting with 2-3 years in a management role
• Experience in and leading high performing teams in cross-functional environments with
the ability to provide a fun and nurturing workplace, motivating staff to exceed their
capabilities and to strive for excellence
• Experience working/collaborating with multiple business units providing key financial
analysis and recommendations that lead to faster revenue generation while minimizing
operational expenditures
• Experience in an environment where financial and nonfinancial measures are applied to
gauge corporate performance, with practical experience leading program design and
implementation, and a demonstrated aptitude for ongoing evolution of the program
• Strong business acumen
• Strong and effective management, leadership and interpersonal skills
• Highly energetic and motivated, thrives on challenges and providing solutions in a fast
paced, multi-level reporting organization
• Strong communicator with a proven ability to translate strategies & business goals into
financial models & an easy to understand picture for other teams in the organization.
Ability to present and discuss all aspects of the business results to senior leaders
• Expert in using technology (SQL, Macro, Microsoft office) to enhance data and
information delivery. Strong proficiency to design & integrate various systems with
accounting software
• Influential team player with strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with various
individuals at differing levels of the organization
• A creative thinker and proven problem solver who has provided solutions
