The School of Applied Sciences and Technology is the largest school at NAIT and is shaping tomorrow’s leaders by offering more than 40 diverse programs that include the natural and physical sciences, environmental management, sustainable design, digital media and graphics, photography and broadcasting, mechanical and electrical engineering technology and information systems technology. The School is home to four research centres: the Centre for Oil Sands Sustainability, Boreal Research Institute, Centre for Sensors and System Integration and the Applied Bio/Nano Industrial Research Centre. There are plans to open three new centres in 2017.
Reporting to the Provost as part of NAIT’s senior academic team, the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences and Technology is responsible for all aspects of its operation. The successful candidate will bring success as a creative and innovative leader with an ability to see new opportunities for this highly diverse school. The new dean will preferably have a Masters degree and a strong record of achievement in administration along with outstanding interpersonal skills that will engage and inspire instructors, staff, students and external stakeholders in the continued growth of the School and its emergence as a leader in Applied Sciences and Technology in Alberta and beyond. The ability to advocate for the school externally to the business and industrial communities is critical for success in the role.
