Position and Responsibilities
The senior geoscientist is part of a highly qualified team within Cameco's corporate safety, health, environment and quality department. This team, with expertise in geo-environmental engineering, geochemistry and hydrogeology provides supports primarily to our Saskatchewan operations. This includes support of environmental monitoring programs as well as assisting in managing tailings and waste rock through all phases including design, operation and reclamation.
This role will provide in-house subject matter expertise in geochemistry and hydrogeology, as well as assistance in a broad spectrum of other geoscientific disciplines such as hydrology. Work will support technical, operational, and regulatory aspects of facilities and projects within Cameco's mining division. Your high level of technical expertise will be critical while troubleshooting a variety of project and operational challenges and contributing to Cameco's goal to ensure safety and environmental standards are met.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Bachelor's degree in the field of environmental geoscience
- Seven or more years of experience in applied geoscience including field investigations, data analysis and planning of remediation projects
- You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Master's degree in geoscience
- Experience encompassing both geochemistry hydrogeology and hydrology
- Environmental consulting background
