Quality Assurance Engineer II

 

  • Responsible for the performance of intermediate level QA engineering duties for the proper pre-production and production sample testing and evaluation of wireless products and related accessories.
  • QA engineer performs tests in the office and at field using standard test procedures to insure customer quality assurance, to proactively test products in conformance to GSM standards, SECA customer quality assurance requirements, and for common carrier and specific customer feature and applications operability.
  • Drafts test procedures for all devices and accessories in accordance with customer product standards, customer feature requirements, and infrastructure adaptations.
Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Principles/ Knowledge
    • Further develop understanding of mobile handset products from customer operational perspective
    • Stay informed on the latest test tools, techniques, trends and methodologies and critically adopts them, when appropriate or necessary
  • Testing
    • Gather requirements and specifications of applications and understand the test scope, schedule, effort, resources, and execution plan
    • Understand requirements and translate requirements to correct test set up and design
    • Develop test plan, design and implement test cases
    • Strategize, plan, document and execute on the testing of your assigned area
    • Generate reports from test results with minimum rework
    • Troubleshoot SW/HW related issues and obtain relevant logs
    • Able to perform test with limited scope or detailed instructions and create suitable test methodologies and test cases
  • Project Management
    • Manage minor projects to produce quality products on-time, within spec, and within resources.
    • Spearhead test execution with strong ownership, overcoming any unforeseen challenges and complexities.
    • Drive process improvements throughout engineering, infrastructures and control management.
    • Gather and communicate project status to upper management along with timely visibility into deviations from expectations.
    • Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to complete project milestones
    • Sound business judgment and decision-making skills based on test results.
    • Ensure product readiness and approve product quality by mitigating any conflicts and technical limitations in end customer perspective.
    • Supports projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared then report to senior leadership in professional manner.
    • Able to provide effective training/mentoring to help Jr. level Engineers to perform in full potential
  • Business Travel
    • Ability to work independently as required
    • Committed to intermittent business travels to designate areas (20%)
Qualifications:
  • 2-4 year of QA Test experience, with proven record of bringing commercial products to market that provide highest user value
  • Software or wireless telecommunications testing experience is highly desired and preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar technical field
  • Effective working knowledge of smartphone, operating systems (OS), and mobile wireless telecommunications technology - GSM/WCDMA/LTE
