The Role:
The Weld Technician works with production to ensure weld and dimensional integrity of Modatek Products

Here is what you will focus on:

  • Ensures that an investigation takes place for any process failure
  • Assist in problem investigation and root cause determination
  • Conduct floor audits for quality of outgoing parts, including service-designated parts
  • Perform layered audits or program parts in production, production master panels, and SPC charts and part checking fixtures
  • Ensure that part quality levels are maintained, improved and that quality inspection tools are available to achieve this
  • Coordinate and oversee supplier personnel for PIA sorts and complete all documentation
  • Provide support to the production inspection requirements as designated by the QA A/L
  • Monitors quality of welds; trained in all phases of weld troubleshooting
  • Recommend necessary adjustments to parts and machinery, to ensure proper production run
  • Basic robotics troubleshooting on weld robots
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Modatek.
  • Follow all Health & Safety programs and all Modatek safety rules and regulations throughout the plant and while operating any equipment. Maintains good housekeeping.
  • Performs other duties as required

Here is what you will require to be successful:

  • Welding Technician diploma (this is not a Welding Opportunity, a Minimum of 2 years in a recognized Welding Technician educational program is required)
  • Knowledgeable in the use of checking fixtures, as well as experience in using precision measurement tools (height gauge, vernier, micrometer, etc)
  • Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading
  • Computer proficiency
  • Knowledge of Destructive and Non Destructive Evaluation testing and equipment
  • Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant
  • Able to communicate to all levels of plant personnel with ease
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem solving techniques
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Ability to work to deadlines, multiple demands
  • Ability to travel to United States, Mexico and overseas on short notice for training and meetings if required
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
