With a focus on innovation and elevating the campus to greater heights, the University of British Columbia – Okanagan Campus (UBC-O) is seeking a new Director, Human Resources. As a dynamic and proactive senior leader, the Director, HR will be tasked with collaboratively and confidently leading a dedicated group of HR professionals as they strive for excellence. Reporting to both the Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Principal of UBC-O and UBC’s Vice President, Human Resources, the chosen candidate will be responsible for developing campus wide HR strategies, programs and services, and executing on all institution-wide HR strategies, including faculty and staff relations, talent management and organizational development, recruitment and retention and campus health and wellbeing. As a member of the Executive team at UBC-O, the Director, HR will need to be an enabler and thoughtful contributor to UBC’s overall organizational strategy and visioning.
A nimble and thoughtful leader who nurtures relationships by being present, engaged and multi-faceted, the Director, HR will provide excellent counsel to all academic and administrative functions on the Okanagan Campus and create strong functional linkages with Vancouver Campus HR colleagues and operations. Possessing superior leadership acumen and a truly strategic focus when implementing HR best-practices, the incumbent will optimize HR’s role as a truly effective business partner throughout UBC-O. Success will be measured, in part, by finding synergies and empowering the HR team to achieve fluid and enlightened service delivery goals, such as the Aspire vision, while implementing strategies that produce progressive outcomes for all of UBC.
