Job Description

A unique and impactful role has been created to support business transformation across UBC in its entirety. The Director, Supply Management & Financial Operations (Director, SM & FO) will be vital in shifting current practices to a strategic and value added model across the university and developing a customer centric culture.

With a passion for enabling fundamental process improvements, best practices, the Director, SM & FO will provide executive strategic finance and procurement leadership for UBC. The Director, SM & FO will lead operational procure to pay activities, supply management/strategic sourcing initiatives and the University’s travel program, with secondary oversight of payroll and financial systems in absence of the Executive Director.  In addition, the Director, SM & FO is accountable for ensuring the effective, efficient and sustainable procurement practices of an annual spend of over $700 million on goods and services across the University. This role will be a key figure in the Procurement Modernization Project that will transform how procurement is delivered across the University and is also expected to manage risk exposure and ensure a strong control environment.

As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned financial and procurement professional who has worked in a large, complex environment with a highly diverse customer or stakeholder group. You have successfully managed significant transformational projects, ensuring your team and its customers are listened to, engaged, and enabled to make the change a success. You have operated within a complex procurement environment and have managed the strategic sourcing strategy for a large organization. You have experience in implementing new processes and systems changes that have made these functions stronger, customer/client-centric and more efficient. You ideally bring 10+ years of leadership experience in a similar role which saw tremendous value add for an organization, its clients, employees and vendors.
