The new Chief Human Resources Officer is a key member of the University’s senior leadership team and will champion a strategic and broad mandate for human resources. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Administration, the CHRO is responsible for providing strategic direction and transformational leadership for the provision of effective human resource practices and policies. Working closely with senior administrators and executives, the CHRO will provide strong change management leadership and direction, while proactively building and fostering positive and collaborative relations with all levels of management, unions and staff labour groups within the university as well as with key stakeholders including government, other institutions and the broader community.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in senior roles in the field of human resources within a large and complex unionized organization and have a deep understanding of how HR enables an organization to fully engage its people and enhance capacity. A proven leader, the CHRO will appreciate the complexities of working with a dispersed workforce as well as respect for the role open access and online education plays in today’s society.
