Cambrian is seeking a visionary leader to become Dean for the Schools of Health Sciences, Nursing, and Emergency Services.
Reporting to the Vice President Academic, the Dean will contribute to the College’s goals and objectives by fostering innovation and excellence; by providing academic leadership and support to faculty members and staff within a diverse portfolio; and by ensuring student success through the delivery of a supportive, inclusive, and high-quality educational experience.
The successful candidate will have a positive and dynamic leadership style that will inspire and engage faculty, staff, and external community partners and foster positive work relationships within the department and with other areas of the College. In addition, he or she will ensure alignment of academic programming with the College’s strategic objectives. This includes the planning, development, and ongoing review of the programs and courses within the portfolio; the enhancement of existing programs; and the development of new programs to attract and retain students. The Dean will oversee program delivery and ensure that it conforms to applicable standards (e.g. external accreditation and licensing requirements) and that it meets the needs of students, employers, and the community. As Dean, the successful candidate will support the College’s vision and mission by attracting and developing exceptional faculty who can nurture student excellence and support the programs within the portfolio. The Dean will also have oversight of, and accountability for, financial planning and resource allocation within his or her area, including the development and ongoing monitoring of budgets.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in an area related to the portfolio, as well as teaching competence and experience. The incumbent will also have demonstrated leadership skills, strategic thinking abilities, and experience in achieving positive results. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to promote collaboration and to inspire others to succeed will be a requirement of the position. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the Ontario postsecondary education environment, and experience within a unionized environment.

Cambrian’s Schools of Health Sciences, Nursing, and Emergency Services have built an exceptional reputation for preparing graduates for careers in their field. In 2016-17, Paramedic, Diagnostic Medical Sonography – Ultrasound, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Medical Radiation Technology graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate on their qualification exams. Their success speaks to the calibre of our programs and to the commitment of Cambrian faculty and staff in ensuring the success of our students and a smooth transition from college into practice.
