Western University invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice-President (Operations & Finance).
Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor and as a member of the senior executive team, the new Vice-President (Operations & Finance) joins Western at a favourable time. Home to a cohesive, service-oriented, and hardworking team, the portfolio encompasses Financial, Health, Hospitality, Retail, and Campus Community Police Services, as well as Housing, Internal Audit, Legal Counsel, and Facilities Management (Facilities Operations, Building Services, Facilities Development & Engineering, Parking Services, and Sustainability). As Western’s chief financial and operations officer, the new Vice-President has a real opportunity to have an indelible impact on the University’s future by leveraging the portfolio’s many accomplishments over the last several years, and in a unit that reflects a culture very much aligned with the University’s academic mission and strategic directions.
The University seeks a seasoned leader who models the virtues of shared leadership, partners meaningfully with and supports the goals of faculty, staff, and students, nurtures a positive environment, and builds capacity among members of the team. Given Western’s ambitious and highly productive culture, the individual who realizes success in this role is a creative and strategic thinker—someone who gains professional and personal satisfaction from reaching high and making a difference. A consultative and collegial leadership style, a natural service orientation, excellent communication skills, a community orientation, and an approach that earns trust and respect are essential, as is a proven track record of accomplishment in a similar portfolio. A graduate degree or a professional finance designation is preferred.
The University invites applications from all qualified individuals. Western is committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace and welcomes applications from women, members of racialized groups/visible minorities, Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation, and persons of any gender identity or gender expression. Accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process. In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
Consideration of candidates will begin late April 2017 and will continue until the position is filled. Nominations and/or applications should be submitted, in confidence, to Gerri Woodford or Jason Murray at firstname.lastname@example.org.
