Job Description

Reporting to the Vice-President of Administration & Finance, the Associate Vice-President, Human Resources (AVPHR) provides strategic leadership, planning, implementation, and operational excellence for all human resources services that support and align with the University’s values, mission, vision, and goals. The AVPHR will lead a talented team of generalists and specialists in areas that include labour and employee relations, talent acquisition and workforce planning, job evaluation and compensation, training and development, and HRIS.

 

The AVPHR will be a successful leader with excellent managerial and interpersonal skills and a substantial record of executive-level human resources experience in a complex, collegial, and multi-union organization, ideally within the public sector. A proven record of leading and building high performance teams, developing and retaining a diverse workforce, fostering a productive and positive relationship with organized labour, and ensuring excellence in all aspects of human resources practices and services is essential. Candidates will display strong conflict management, negotiation, problem solving and planning skills.
