Reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor, and working closely with the President, the other Vice-Presidents and the Deans, the Vice-President (Research) provides leadership and vision in shaping UNB’s strategic research directions and agenda. The Vice-President (Research) is a member of the University’s senior management team, and plays a significant role in formulating plans for all aspects of the development of the University, and is a member of the Senates on both campuses. The Vice-President (Research) is the primary external and internal advocate for the development and promotion of the University’s research programs, and is the primary spokesperson for the University on matters of research policy and impact locally, provincially and nationally. In addition, establishing strong connections with the Federal Granting Councils, other research agencies, industry and community is an integral part of the role.

You have demonstrated the capacity for outstanding academic leadership, a dedication to teaching, research, and interdisciplinary activity, and a collaborative perspective gained through creating networks across public and private agencies. You lead with an inclusive, collaborative and transparent approach, have demonstrated success in fostering teamwork in research and are able to work and communicate effectively with the full university community across UNB’s two main campuses. Your leadership style is characterized by collegiality, integrity, confidence, and the keen ability to build strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including industry, community, government and funding partners.
