About the Role

At Bethany, a career as a Quality Practice Lead is both personally and professionally challenging and rewarding. As a key member of our quality team, you will provide expertise and consultation to meet the needs of evolving infection prevention and control program.

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Practice Lead, IP & C participates as an active member of the Quality & education team through collaboration in the planning, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of IP& C best practices & education programs.


The incumbent will support the strategic goals and objectives of Bethany’s Infection Prevention and Control Program & will provide expertise within the organization and assist the other members of care team with the development and implementation of all functions and activities of the corporate Infection Prevention and Control Program.


 Individual responsibilities include:

  • Leads the development, and ensure ongoing monitoring and continuous quality improvement of Bethany’s infection prevention and control program

  • Establishes strong & supportive relationships with regional, provincial and national IP&C stakeholders

  • Provides Infection Prevention and Control education to residents, families, employees and volunteers to increase awareness of infection control issues (risk, prevention, control) and preventive measures.

  • Develops, reviews and revises Infection Control Policies, procedures and resources. 

  • Participates as a member of the Infection Control Committee and others, as appropriate.

  • Provides expert knowledge and support for patient safety issues relating to infection prevention and control.



What You Bring:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or an equivalent combination of education & experience.

  • Current Registered Nurse in good standing with CARNA.

  • 3-5 years’ of recent work experience with seniors and/or dependent adults in long term care

  • Experience in Infection Control relating to surveillance, education & consultation

  • Knowledge of the Infectious Disease process and the applicable regulatory bodies and legislative requirements.

  • Current CPR

  • Current, valid Alberta Driver’s License with no restrictions as this role requires visits to site locations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong presenting skills and a basic understanding of adult learning.

  • Sound judgement and problem solving skills.
