Job Description

Do you consider yourself a seasoned and resilient Mental Health Nurse with excellent communication and team skills? If so, then consider working at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital Psychiatric Unit where everyone is valued within a multi-disciplinary team environment! 

We are currently seeking multiple Mental Health Nurses to join our team in permanent, relief and casual positions.

The East Kootenay Regional Hospital is located in Cranbrook, BC. Our Psychiatric department is a 10 bed inpatient unit that includes 2 seclusion rooms. We have a very skilled and seasoned team that includes a team leader, 2 RNs working 12 hours shifts 24/7 with a 3rd RN on weekends from 1000-1700, a unit clerk, a mental health care aide and 3 Psychiatrists. We provide group activities and are implementing the PIECES philosophy. 

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides: nursing care to psychiatric patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team; enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers; demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice; maintains and advances own clinical competence; participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing. 
  • Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and addictions environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 
  • Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC).
