Job Description


Practice Details
Come share in the pediatric service provided to the Nelson area. This hospital based practice comes with a fully equipment office and additionally supported by having two hospital based full time obstetricians and an active midwifery program. There is also a busy collaborative midwifery/physician group practice in the community. On-call hours are funded and there is an additional opportunity to share in providing outreach service in the West Kootenay area.


Approximate $200,000 annual salary in addition to rural incentives and recruitment benefits, and Doctors of BC Benefits, and Medical On call funding up to $75,000/year

Qualifications:

  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
  • ACORN desired,
  • NRP mandatory

Payment Structure

  • Fee for Service + MOCAP for on call
  • Estimated Gross Income $200,000
  • Compensation Disclaimer:  annual estimate; does not include MOCAP or rural incentives

Overhead

  • % share of clinic overhead cost
  • For discussion

Rural Incentives currently include:

  • Recruitment bonus of $7,500 (prorated for 0.5 FTE)
  • Relocation : Max $15,000
  • Fee Premium: 11.62%
  • Annual flat fee: $12,107
  • CME: max of $6,600 after 4 years


Clinic Details — Kootenay Lake Hospital:
Kootenay Lake Hospital is a 30-bed hospital, cardiac lab with stress testing, echocardiography, Holter monitoring. Specialty clinics such as Healthy Heart, diabetes education, oncology and liver clinics. Busiest maternity service in the region with a very active integrated maternal/child health program including obstetric/gynecology and pediatric specialist support.


Nelson
Nelson is a vibrant community with an approximate population of 12,000 people serving an area of 25,000. For specialty services, Nelson helps support a surrounding catchment population of approximately 60,000.
