The Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in conjunction with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, is seeking a full-time Academic Respirologist fulfilling the academic position description of Clinician Teacher or Clinician in Quality and Innovation. The candidate must be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Expected start date is July 1, 2017, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in clinical Respirology with a focus on management of respiratory complications in cancer patients. The successful candidate will be expected to clinically cover call on the General Respirology inpatient consult service as well as actively participate in both a General Respirology and a Cancer specific ambulatory clinic. The candidate must also be skilled technically in diagnostic bronchoscopy as well as basic pleural disease management.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both Respirology and Internal Medicine; and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate will also have respective training suiting the academic position. Candidates applying as a Clinician Teacher, will require one or more years of fellowship training post-residency in a defined area relevant to the proposed position, with the expectation that some form of training in health professions education will be completed within three years. If applying as a Clinician in Quality and Innovation, candidates will require one or more years of post-residency fellowship training and further training in Quality Improvement. The successful candidate will devote approximately 75% of their time to patient care and 25% to scholarly work in Quality Improvement and Innovation or teaching.
Estimated remuneration will be between $200,000 and $350,000 per year (fee for service), commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans. Relocation benefits may be negotiable.
