The Northern Health authority is seeking a general practitioner to provide locum coverage in beautiful Smithers, BC. Working in a local clinic with three other Physicians, the selected candidate would be responsible for primary care, ER and inpatients. No maternity required.
Bulkley Valley Dist. Hospital is a 24 bed acute care facility providing emergency/outpatient, medical, surgical, maternity and palliative care services, and has one psychiatric observation unit. The facility supports home and community care services, a strong community cancer clinic, and a diverse visiting specialist/surgeon program. It also offers laboratory and radiology (x-ray, mammography, ultrasound), and pediatrics services.
Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town's Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. There are golf courses, swimming, curling and skating rinks, fitness, mountain biking and hiking trails. The population of Smithers is approximately 5,400 and home to some of the country's best skiing.
