Job Description

The Northern Health Authority is seeking family practitioners to provide locum coverage in Stewart, BC.  

Stewart Health Centre provides outpatient services including:

  • Public Health

  • Pre and post natal infant and child care

  • Walk in emergency services

  • Regular scheduled day and afternoon shifts as well as a physician on-call

  • Diagnostic Imaging

  • Laboratory services

  • Primary Care Nursing

  • Chronic Disease Management

  • Immunizations 

Located at the head of Portland Canal, a steep, narrow ocean fjord that forms a natural border between British Columbia and Alaska is the community of Stewart. This is one of the most spectacular spots in BC, with its towering snow-capped mountains and hanging glaciers of Bear Pass. The major industries are logging, mining and tourism. The population is approximately 500. 

Stewart and the surrounding Northern British Columbia region offer a vastly diverse landscape filled with outdoor recreation possibilities, not to mention easy access to Alaska. The town's relative isolation adds to its charm as a very special place of untouched wilderness and exceptional wildlife. In Stewart you can enjoy:

In order to be eligible for British Columbia licensure your postgraduate training must meet the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Post graduate training must be obtained from an accredited and approved training program in a jurisdiction sanctioned by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. At this time, those countries are: Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, and Australia.
