Academic Infectious Diseases Physician

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for the position of an Infectious Diseases physician with special interest and expertise in the care of patients with HIV infection. The successful applicant should be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Expected start date is January 1, 2018 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in the academic and clinical practice of infectious diseases. Major responsibilities for this position will include participation as a consultant in a busy outpatient HIV clinic in a tertiary-care teaching hospital. The ideal candidate will have interest and expertise in the management of patients with HIV infection and its associated complications. The individual will be expected to participate as a member of the inpatient Infectious Diseases consultation service, and to contribute to an infectious diseases ambulatory care clinic. The candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to the undergraduate and postgraduate training programs within the Department of Medicine (as a Clinician-Teacher), or alternatively will be expected to conduct research in HIV-related medicine or infectious diseases (as a Clinician Investigator).
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification in Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Infectious Diseases and have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. Additional subspecialty training and experience in the care of HIV-infected individuals would be an asset.
Estimated remuneration will be between $200,000 and $240,000 per year (fee for service), commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans. Relocation benefits may be negotiable.
