Chair/Chief, Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery
The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University is seeking a Division Chair/Chief, full-time continuing clinical academic plastic and reconstructive surgeon, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is affiliated with London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London and is comprised of nine plastic surgeons with busy clinical practices. The academic training program is Royal College accredited and provides surgical education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Division currently focuses its research interests in many areas including hand and upper limb, Dupuytren’s disease, peripheral nerve, breast reconstruction, craniofacial surgery, and tissue engineering.
This is a dual position as Chair, Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery – Western University; and as Chief, Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery – London Health Sciences Centre & St. Joseph’s Health Care London. The Chair/Chief will manage a very complex enterprise within an evolving health care system. The ideal candidate will possess the vision and scholarly profile to understand and develop the complex interrelationships between clinical obligations and the teaching and research strengths of the Division.
The successful candidate must have a strong academic background and will be expected to participate actively in the Division’s academic and educational initiatives including teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, residents, and fellows. Applicants must have demonstrated the ability to publish in the highest quality academic and subspecialty outlets and be a recognized expert in his or her field of research. In addition to administrative responsibilities as Chair/Chief, candidates will be expected to provide the full range of clinical services required of a plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
The successful candidate must have an MD or equivalent; have completed an accredited plastic and reconstructive surgery training program; have received (or are eligible for) a Certificate of Special Competence in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent); and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of the following sources: Fee For Service (OHIP billings), Alternative Funding Plan, and Academic Salary.
