Kelowna General Hospital and Kelowna Cardiology Associates are seeking a General Cardiologist with an interest in Heart Failure subspecialty to join our group.

KGH is the local referral center with a strong cardiology group providing diagnostic cardiac catheterization. The PCI program was introduced in 2009 with 4 members in the group with PCI/cardiac catheterization # over 3,000/year. Open heart surgeons performed their first case in December, 2012 with 3.5 cardiac surgeons in the dept. Plans are to perform > 700 pump cases next year. Electrophysiology space has been shelled into the expansion plans, and we anticipate the arrival of EP within the next few years.

Currently our group consists of 4 Interventionists and 6 General Cardiologists. With the recent expansion, there is a growing need in general cardiology with support in areas including: office and hospital consultations, AF clinic, CHF clinic, Rapid Access Cardiac Exam (RACE) Clinic, COACH cardiac rehab program, ICD/pacer clinic, clinical research trials and medical student / resident teaching. We are particularly looking for individuals with an interest in advanced CHF care or CCU with a desire also to be involved in general cardiology care. Clinic Details – Kelowna General Hospital:

​ Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 78,000 ED visits yearly. Adjacent to Kelowna General is the brand new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) which opened in 2015 and is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland. IHSC is Kelowna General Hospital’s principal surgical site and features;  9 specialized Operating Rooms created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, General and Trauma surgeries with 2 ORs dedicated to Cardiac. Our state of the art Centennial Building also recently opened and boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, larger operating rooms and a rooftop helipad. 

KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC. KGH is entering its third year of training Royal College Emergency Medicine Physicians and also participates in training Family Physicians. With the state-of-the-art Interior Heart & Surgical Centre and new medical inpatient units in the Centennial Building, dedicated psychiatry units for youth and adults, a modern maternity ward, enhanced laboratory and clinical departments in the new Dr. Walter Anderson Building, and an academic campus that serves as a satellite for the University of British Columbia Medical School, KGH has become one of BC’s leading healthcare centres.

    • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
    • Doctorate in Medicine
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
    • Advanced training in Heart Failure
    • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Call Schedule: Hours of work: Full Time   On call requirements: 1:6 – 1:7 


  • Payment Structure: Fee for Service

  • Estimated Gross Income: $500,000 - $600,000. Plus MOCAP level 1

  • Overhead costs associated with private practice only

  • Relocation assistance up to $10,000 maximum or $15,000 maximum if move is over 3,000 kms/international (with eligible receipts)
