As one of British Columbia's six regional health authorities, we, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) are a world class innovator in medical care, research and teaching, delivering service to more than one million BC residents living in Vancouver, Vancouver's North Shore, Richmond, the Sea-to-Sky Highway, Sunshine Coast, Bella Bella, Bella Coola, and the Central Coast. We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality services in areas including primary care, community-based residential and home health care, mental health, substance use, public health and research. We are an organization fully committed to supporting healthy lives in healthy communities with the robust resources of 13 hospitals, a number of community health centres, 2,500 physicians, more than 13,500 full time staff, and over $3 billion in funding.
But that's only part of the story. VCH is about something bigger; this is a place where we embrace thinking boldly, taking smart risks, and "going first" – on everything from new surgical techniques to funding models – when we believe it will lead to the best possible outcomes for patients and their families. We are proud to hold best-in-class awards in everything from research, surgical care and infection control, to harm reduction, community care, communications and community engagement. At our core, we are a people-focused organization where entrepreneurial spirit runs deep, and opportunity exists for all those who see themselves in the transformation of health care as we know it.
With a growing patient population, we have the opportunity for three Neurologists to join the VCH team based at Lion’s Gate Hospital. The role will require that the neurology physician be able to demonstrate diagnostic and therapeutic skills for ethical and effective patient care, access, and apply relevant information to their clinical practice. The ideal candidate brings experience as a practicing Neurologist, ideally with a sub-specialty in stroke. Experience from a tertiary district, trauma centre with a dedicated neuroscience unit and practice is preferred. Alternatively, a new graduate from a recognized neurology program will also be considered. Current College of Physicians of BC License (Full) and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCP) is required. Candidates must also obtain their Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) certification.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity to have meaningful impact on the delivery of care at Vancouver Coastal Health based in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia.
