Executive Medical Director,
Quality and Patient Safety
We are seeking an experienced medical leader to be the physician champion in quality improvement and patient safety at Interior Health (IH), as the Executive Medical Director (EMD), Quality and Patient Safety.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Medicine and Quality, the incumbent will provide leadership in the development and implementation of IH’s quality improvement and patient safety strategic plan. Working in a dyad relationship with the Corporate Director of Quality Risk and Accreditation, and as co-lead of the IH Quality, Safety and Patient Experience Council, he/she is instrumental in the development, approval and implementation of IH policies and procedures related to medical quality improvement and patient safety. In collaboration with the Patient Care Quality Office, the EMD Quality and Safety leads the process, investigation and reporting of critical incidents and patient-safety events.
The successful candidate will have significant clinical and administrative experience with a track record of successfully engaging medical staff in quality, as interdisciplinary quality team members. In conjunction with provincial organizations, local physicians and regional medical quality leads the EMD will facilitate the implementation of an innovative regional physician quality improvement initiative funded through the Specialist Services Committee, a joint clinical committee of the Ministry of Health, Health Authorities and Doctors of BC.
