ONTARIO COLLEGE OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS
Chief Executive Officer
Be a compelling advocate for family medicine with the public,
government and the healthcare community
At the heart of improving health care for all Ontarians is the provision of high quality family medicine. The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) is a not for profit, member-based organization, and the provincial medical association which supports family physicians in the provision of high quality health care to their patients. With a membership of over 10,500 family physicians across the province and as a provincial chapter of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the OCFP promotes quality family medicine through leadership, research, education and advocacy. At the heart of the organization is an understanding of the role of family physicians and primary care as the foundation of the healthcare system, and a focus on the importance of accessible, high quality primary care to improve the health of all Ontarians.
In its search for a new Chief Executive Officer, the OCFP is seeking a passionate and collaborative leader who will bring vision and strategic acuity to the organization. Working closely with an active and engaged Board, the membership and the staff, the Chief Executive Officer will communicate both the substance and the importance of the organization’s mission to the public, government and strategic partners across the healthcare community. As a strong and inclusive organizational leader, the Chief Executive Officer will continue to build a dedicated team of staff and equip them with the resources they need to implement the goals and objectives of the OCFP. On behalf of the Board and the membership, the CEO will provide sound operational and fiscal management, including identifying potential revenue streams to further develop supports for members. An accomplished consensus builder, the Chief Executive Officer will lead by listening to diverse perspectives and by finding common ground in the development of policies and plans that promote the OCFP as a strategic leader in the advancement of family medicine.
A visionary leader with an in-depth understanding of family medicine, and either a family physician or a healthcare leader from within the sector, the new Chief Executive Officer will bring highly visible leadership credentials and exceptional communication and relationship building skills to the role. Experience working within a not for profit organization and with a volunteer Board would be highly desirable. Preference will also be given to candidates able to demonstrate a good understanding of the dynamic nature of the healthcare environment in Ontario, as well as familiarity with partner organizations. Above all the Chief Executive Officer will be an individual who has a commitment to excellence in the provision of high quality family medicine for all Ontarians.
