Job Description

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Medical Operations (VPMO) is responsible and accountable for the overall leadership and governance of the organized professional staff in collaboration with the Chief of Staff. Working with the Executive Vice President Patient Services, the Chief Practice Officer and members of the Senior Leadership Team, the VPMO will oversee strategic and operational planning related to the development and introduction of new clinical services within the organization. The VPMO will provide executive leadership and is accountable for the performance of Medical Administration and other programs in the portfolio as assigned. Additionally, the VMPO will contribute to the strategy surrounding clinical service planning and resource management. The VPMO will also contribute to the overall health system by providing supportive leadership to the many partners within the Central Local Health Integration Network (CLHIN). It is expected that successful candidate will commit 3 days per week to this role.


The successful candidate must be eligible for or have hospital privileges and must be able to provide clinical services consistent with other members of their speciality. The successful candidate will hold an Independent License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and will hold certification in their speciality by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada. The incumbent will have significant clinical practice and administrative experience, in addition to a progressive leadership background with the ability to provide leadership in a community hospital setting. Evidence of strategic thinking, ability to meet targets, on-going continuing education, excellent analytical skills and the ability to promote a positive environment are all crucial to this position.
