Job Description

Niagara Health and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton are excited to announce the development of a Joint Chief role for their Mental Health and Addictions Programs. This initiative will bring patients in the Niagara and Hamilton areas a coordinated vision for Mental Health and Addictions. Combined, the programs will represent one of the largest mental health groups in the country under a single leadership structure.  By doing so the organizations will leverage the rich experience, specialization, service excellence and partnerships available across the region to optimize care in each community, as well as bring innovative program development to both organizations. 

The ideal candidate will possess an optimal combination of the following experiences, competencies and leadership qualities:

  • FRCP(C) qualification, or equivalent, and a licence to practice medicine in the Province of Ontario;
  • An excellent track record of senior leadership experience in the field of mental health;
  • Proven ability to build successful, collaborative relationships in a complex clinical and academic environment;
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience;
  • An ability to not only conceive a vision, but to inspire teams to execute the vision;
  • Demonstrated skill in building a culture that has quality improvement and patient engagement at its core;
  • An open and engaging leadership style, with an affinity to ‘lead by walking around’ and a passion for engaging people at all levels
  • Political acuity and a track record of building strong, collaborative partnership with system partners;
  • A high level of self-awareness, energy and ability to engage and motivate people.
