Assistant / Associate / Full Professor - Academic Dermatologist

The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Women’s College Hospital (WCH) Division of Dermatology is seeking to recruit a Clinician Scientist with an interest and demonstrated excellence in carrying out independent research, teaching and patient care activities. The successful applicant will be committed to a career in Academic Dermatology and should be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The successful applicant will also hold an appointment as Scientist, Women’s College Research Institute at Women’s College Hospital. Effective start date of appointment is September 1 2017, or a mutually agreeable date.
The individual will spend 75% of their time in research and will have academic aspirations that are aligned with the mission, vision and values of WCH. The ideal candidate will have completed advanced research training (e.g. MSc, PhD or equivalent) with expertise in clinical epidemiology and translational research methodology. The ideal candidate will also have specific clinical and research expertise in complex inflammatory and neoplastic skin diseases and related biologic therapies in adult patients and in patients transitioning from pediatric to adult health care systems. They will be expected to build a related innovative dermatology clinical research program in collaboration and partnership with other relevant subspecialties such as respirology, rheumatology, immunology and allergy. The remaining 25% of their time will be clinical and teaching, participating in ambulatory patient care and clinical teaching and supervision in the areas of general dermatology, atopic dermatitis and transition clinics for young adults.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, have graduate degree training or equivalent, and have proven ability for independent research with demonstrated excellence and productivity. Applicants must have or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Remuneration will also depend upon the academic rank, qualifications and amount of clinical work performed but will be in the usual range for an academic Dermatologist in the Province of Ontario at a minimum of approximately $200,000 - $300,000 per year.
