CLINICAL ACADEMIC POSITION – PAEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGIST

Department of Paediatrics, Western University, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry

 

The Department of Paediatrics, Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, is seeking a Paediatric Endocrinologist to join our established Division of Paediatric Endocrinology. The Division of Paediatric Endocrinology provides a comprehensive ambulatory and in-patient service to a population of about 1.5 million in southwestern Ontario.  Children with the full spectrum of endocrine conditions, including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, disorders of growth, puberty, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary function, calcium metabolism, disorders of sexual development, and gender dysphoria are cared for in a range of specialty clinics.  Our division works closely with an endocrinology nurse and a full inter-professional Diabetes Education Team. The Division of Paediatric Endocrinology works closely with our Adult Endocrinology Division at St. Joseph’s Health Center to ensure a seamless transition of care for our young adult patients.  The Division is also very active in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education.

Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario.  Subspecialty certification in Paediatric Endocrinology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required.  The successful candidate will be a Clinician Researcher, and hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.  Successful candidates will have a keen interest in academic medicine, the ability to collaborate effectively with all other members of the health care team and office staff, and will be expected to participate in team-based health care and teaching, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise graduate trainees. 

 

Compensation for this position will be primarily composed of an alternative funding plan and academic salary. The anticipated start date for this position is to be negotiated.
