The Northern Zone of the Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking family practitioners! The Northern Zone is supported by three regional facilities, as well as a number of community hospitals and health centres. Specialty services are distributed among the three regional hospitals located in Truro, New Glasgow and Amherst.
The Northern Zone is located in the hub of Nova Scotia where all roads meet in the middle of the province. This is the part of the province where people come to play on the shores of the Northumberland Strait that offer the best beachcombing and warmest swimming in the Province. This area is also home to a large fresh seafood industry and rolling wine country, and the quaint town of Tatamagouche. Truro is home to industry and a modern town located on the famous Bay of Fundy and a short drive to the Five Islands Provincial Park with beautiful shores of red clay and fossil finds. The zone is also home to Ski Wentworth, one of the ski resorts in the province and Fox Harb’r the legendary golf course enjoyed by celebrities from all over. Pictou, NS - Based out of the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou County Family Medicine is actively recruiting a family practitioner to join their team! This is a collaborative practice opportunity, utilizing an EMR and allows physicians to work with a Nurse Practitioner, Family Practice Nurse and Pharmacist. Physicians are well supported by hospital staff and services. Compensation is through the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness Alternate Payment Program which provides a guaranteed income. Physicians can refer patients to the One Door Chronic Disease Management Centre; in addition to a menu of services offered from their main office in New Glasgow, the clinic provides a Diabetic Education Clinic on site in Pictou two days a week.

This practice opportunity is located by the Minus Basis in Parrsboro, NS and has satellite clinics in Advocate Harbour and River Hebert. The full time Primary Health Care/ED Collaborating Physician income is based on the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness Family Practice-Nurse Practitioner collaborative practice contract. The lower acuity emergent care requires ATLS, ACLS, PALS and advanced Airway training.The full complement at the Parrsboro CEC is three physicians, a NP and a Family Practice Nurse. It is a turnkey practice supported by an EMR. Parrsboro offers a small town atmosphere in a rural setting with a strong arts community! The CEC provides 24/7/365 urgent and emergent care as well as primary health care services provided by physicians and nurse practitioners and provides diagnostic services like laboratory and diagnostic imaging.
