The Canterbury District Health Board is the largest tertiary, teaching and research hospital in the South Island of New Zealand. The hospital operates 600-650 beds and provides services to over 35,000 inpatients each year.
Applications for the above position are invited from Registered Medical Practitioners who hold an approved higher qualification in Medicine, enabling Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. This is a permanent full-time position within the CDHB reporting to the Clinical Director of the Department of Gastroenterology.
The Gastroenterology Department provides secondary and tertiary level inpatient, outpatient consultation service and the successful applicant will be required to participate in the on-call roster. Specific training and competence in ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy is essential. The position also entails provision of clinical training and supervision of medical staff, students and other staff as required and participation in Departmental research and audit activities.
You'll experience supportive working relationships within the hospital as well as enjoy the unique collegial relationships that stem from providing a comprehensive service to locations throughout the South Island including Timaru, Ashburton and the West Coast.
We are open to applications from newly qualified through to experienced physicians. Remuneration will be based on the equivalent cumulative experience of the applicant and matched to the appropriate step within the Medical and Dental Specialists Multi Employment Collective Agreement (MECA).
