The Epilepsy program in London, Ontario is one of the largest and most comprehensive in Canada. It has an 11-bed epilepsy monitoring unit, with capability to do intracranial recordings, both SEEG and subdural. Excellent support in terms of advanced imaging, neuropsychological services and neurosurgery is available. An average of 120 epilepsy surgery procedures are performed per year. The Epilepsy Program is considered a “Regional Epilepsy Surgery Centre of Excellence” by the Province of Ontario and serves as referral for most of southwestern Ontario as well as other regions of the Province. In addition, referrals are also received from outside of Ontario. Active areas of research include imaging, epidemiology and clinical trials. There is a solid and fluid relationship with the imaging laboratories at the Robarts Research Institute as well as potential collaborations with basic science and other specialties at Western University.

Job Description

The Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and the London Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Neurologist/Epileptologist for a full-time clinical academic appointment. The successful candidate will hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications at the time of appointment to Western University. The recruit will be part of the Epilepsy Program, caring for adults with epileptic disorders in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in a career in academic medicine, demonstrate scholarship and excellence in clinical or basic science research, and will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as supervise graduate trainees. Candidates must have an MD and FRCPC in Neurology, be US board-certified in Neurology and Epilepsy, or possess similar certification if from outside North America.

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources: fee for service, alternative funding plan and academic support.
