A full-time permanent faculty position in the Division of Cardiology as Electrophysiologist Cardiologist is available effective October 1, 2017 at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Avenue, Toronto, ON, which is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children; affiliated with the University of Toronto.
The Labatt Family Heart Centre brings together significant interdisciplinary and inter-professional activities within Paediatric Cardiology, Cardiovascular (CV) Surgery, Cardiac Critical Care, Cardiovascular Research and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Programs, thus allowing the Heart Centre to address the needs of patients and families from fetal life through to adulthood. The Heart Centre at The Hospital for Sick Children promotes these activities through seamless integration of research activities, academic performance and exemplary clinical care.
The primary role of the Electrophysiologist Cardiologist will be to assess and treat heart rhythm disorders in patients, provide exemplary clinical and research outcomes, work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary teams and endeavor to improve the developmental health outcomes in children with congenital heart disease (CHD) cared for at SickKids.
Applicants must be certified in a subspecialty training in Electrophysiology, recognized at the national/international level for his/her expertise in the field of Cardiology and brings extensive experience in clinical and research related activities. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be eligible for a leadership role.
The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($255,000-$300,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance and a relocation package and may be eligible for a one time signing bonus and/or mortgage assistance. All candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
