Training Standards Assessor
Bring your occupational health and safety expertise as well as training development and delivery skills to the Ministry of Labour's Prevention Division!
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• review training providers and training programs, including traveling inside Ontario for field assessments to support recommendations for Chief Prevention Officer approval or rejection.
• contribute to the development and delivery of health and safety prevention learning/training and audit programs.
• conduct research and independent analysis in support of curriculum development and offerings in the province.
• provide assistance in the development of learning frameworks, audit standards and methods, and related initiatives.
• attend various locations across the province to perform assessments of training providers and to meet with stakeholders.

How do I qualify?
Analytical, negotiation and issues management skills:
• You can analyze needs for the development/revision of programs and in the provision of specialized advice.
• You can make recommendations to respond to the ministry, partner and stakeholder needs in program delivery.
• You can conduct research, analysis, and technical examination for the evaluation and assessment of quality program delivery and for the preparation and presentation of recommendations on findings.
• You have demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution and issues management skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Program development skills:
• You have knowledge of methodologies for program development and processes, evaluation and analytical techniques.
• You understand occupational health and safety service delivery in Ontario.
• You have knowledge of and experience in adult education principles and practices.
• You can conduct independent needs analysis and provide advice on the development and delivery of prevention learning and training programs.
• You can identify and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of programs and processes as well as potential/existing issues.
Occupational health and safety expertise:
• You have knowledge of health and safety issues within the context of health and safety prevention learning and training.
• You have knowledge of related legislative and regulatory obligations (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act).
• You have knowledge of occupational health and safety system trends, models of delivery, funding and governance, and understanding of critical issues and concerns faced by stakeholders.
Communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills:
• You can provide specialized information and advisory services on the ministry learning, training and training audit programs and processes.
• You can facilitate program performance and delivery.
• You can prepare and present seminar/training presentations.
• You can participate on intra/inter-ministerial committees, consultations and forums.
• You can prepare presentations, reports, briefing notes, discussion papers and recommendations.
• You can promote, manage and maintain effective relationships through consultation and consensus building.
Salary: $1,232.83 - $1,572.05 per week
