The Chemistry Department of Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for a preliminary (tenure-track) appointment in Food Science at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning January 1, 2018.
The Department has a diverse group of world-class researchers with excellent core infrastructure, space and equipment. http://carleton.ca/chemistry/. The Food Science program produces students with expertise in both the science of food, policy and regulation of the food industry. The primary research activities associated with this group include value added nutrients in a wide array of crops and methods to control food spoilage as well as novel methods to detect food-borne contaminants (viruses, mycotoxins) in food.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. and show outstanding potential for independent research through a strong record of accomplishment of high quality research. The candidate must also demonstrate strong communication skills and be willing to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in Food Science. Candidates are expected have a demonstrated track record centered on chemical food toxicants and their analysis in the context of hazard characterization.
