Position Highlights

ICBC’s Strategic Planning and Delivery department has an exciting opportunity available for a seasoned professional with exceptional business acumen and strategic thinking abilities to join the team as a Divisional Planning Advisor.

The Divisional Planning Advisor will play a key role in delivering divisional-level planning services, in alignment with corporate strategy and corporate planning processes, to support divisional executive and senior leadership teams. The Advisor will also support the development of corporate level plans, reports and special projects, and continuously refine corporate planning processes.

Key responsibilities also include:

  •  Delivers corporate-level planning services, including supporting the development of the annual corporate plan and priorities and co-ordinating reporting on corporate strategy performance; 
  • Delivers divisional-level planning services, including developing business strategies and models, business opportunity assessments, targets, plans and other recommendations in alignment with corporate direction;

  • Leads the preparation of project proposals and determines the feasibility of new divisional concepts and initiatives in alignment with corporate priorities;

  • Leads the delivery of divisional reporting of results and delivery against divisional plans;

  • Works collaboratively with other shared services to facilitate successful execution of plans and projects;

  • Delivers on continuous improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of planning and governance at the divisional level;

  • Builds and maintains relationships with executive leadership team and senior management to foster the provision of corporate planning support.


Position Requirements 

  • Knowledge of concepts, principles, standards and practices of project management, change management and management consulting;

  • Knowledge of corporate and divisional business functions, goals, strategies, products, services and general business approach;

  • Knowledge of the relevant governing acts, regulations and requirements;

  • Knowledge of emerging developments in insurance and other industry sectors;

The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is typically recognized by an undergraduate degree and/or a professional designation in a technical/business/scientific field.

Many years of related direct/indirect work experience in a continuous learning environment is typically required for someone to perform this job competently.
