The Opportunity: General Manager, Insurance Services
The position is responsible for managing all aspects of the insurance business, and will develop and execute the organization’s strategic direction in this realm. The successful incumbent will lead the operations of the business to ensure corporate and strategic targets are met, and monitor industry trends to ensure the organization is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory. Participating in industry discussions and representing the organization in the community, he/she is the face of the insurance business in the trade areas served.
This position will coach staff to achieve results and implement the organization’s sales and service strategy and tactics, and will provide service to customers to fulfill their insurance needs as required, with a particular focus on commercial accounts.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Two years of post-secondary education, plus five to seven years’ experience at a managerial level over-seeing the operations of an insurance office, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Must hold a Level III license, and a minimum of a CAIB, CIP, or FIC designation. Eligibility to act as Nominee is also required; a business-related degree is considered an asset.
- Must have a comprehensive understanding of all lines of insurance products, wordings, exclusions, errors and omissions, and must be familiar with risk management techniques.
