Job Summary:   As a division of the Insurance Institute, Career Connections’ mission is to promote the many rewarding career paths available in the property & casualty insurance industry and illustrate the role insurance plays in our society.

With the support of our industry stakeholders, Career Connections engages nearly 200,000 career seekers, High School Students, Post-Secondary Students, and Career Changers (including internationally-educated professionals), at 400+ events across the country per year.

A highly skilled and dynamic communicator who is solutions-focused, organized, and outcomes driven will play an integral awareness-building role as part of the Career Connections Team.


The Career Connections Program Coordinator will:

Coordinate communications and digital outreach 

  • Actively participates in the development and coordinates the execution of Career Connections’ communications strategy

  • Coordinates annual media buys (print and digital)  for core and intermediary audiences

  • Sources, develops, and maintains content for Career Connections website (including the Job Site), blog, and program communications (e.g. newsletters, e-blasts, campaign updates, annual report card) using internal content management and digital communications solutions

  • Directs printing and inventory management of program materials; includes ensuring inventory numbers in database are up-to-date and accurate

  • Develops content and schedule for sharing on social media platforms- Twitter, Facebook, Youtube

  • Supports the development of communications and products to support Career Connections outreach - e.g. program brochures and resources, banners, promotional items, invitations to special events, presentations/webinars, etc.

  • Collaborates with Career Connections Program Officer to inform and facilitate communications, website maintenance, and reporting on behalf of the program

  • Fosters strong working relationships with marketing agencies, partners, suppliers, internal departments, and Institutes/Chapters 

Provide event planning and logistics support  

  • Contributes to the development of Career Connections campaign and event strategy

  • Coordinates the execution of high school and post-secondary general outreach; includes working with Career Connections Program Assistant to schedule industry Ambassadors/volunteers, complete registration and payment process,  and coordinate event logistics

  • Liaises with classroom teachers, guidance counsellors, and program heads to build awareness of Career Connections programming and resources; includes the booking, sourcing of industry volunteers to deliver, and providing materials support for 200+ classroom presentations per year, coordinating participation in Teacher Conferences, and overseeing Feed the Minds of Youth as part of Take Our Kids to Work Day

  • Engages and supports industry volunteers; includes providing on-site event support, responding to event inquiries, coordinating materials delivery, and soliciting feedback (using paper or on-line survey tool) on events

  • Monitors and reports on program outcomes; includes generating and informing reports for local Institutes/Chapters, informing reports to the Executive Committee/industry stakeholders, etc.

  • Supports a culture of continuous improvement by engaging in process review and refinement 


  • Articulate, confident, and capable communications and events coordination professional

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;  Bilingualism in English & French is an asset

  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities, accountabilities, and project based work within tight timelines

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, take initiative, be curious and innovate

  • Build rapport and effective working relationships with internal/external stakeholders, vendors/service providers, and target audiences

  • Flexible and adapts well to change

  • Proven track record of success in  working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and as part of a team

  • Able to be tactful, resourceful, and exercise sound judgement

  • Keen eye for detail and actively engage in follow-up where required

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, excellence in program delivery, and providing superior service


  • 2 – 5 years of experience in communications, career development, event coordination, or relationship management is essential

    Post-Secondary Education (e.g. Business, Communications, Public Relations, Career Development)

  • High degree of comfort and proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Digital Marketing/Social Media Platforms, and Internet applications; Expertise with databases, graphic design applications, and/or content management systems (CMS) is an asset

  • Ability to travel nationally

  • Experience or education related to the property & casualty insurance industry is considered an asset, but not required
