Job Description

This position is in the Products, Pricing and Analytics department and more specifically is a Risk Services position to support the writing and retaining of profitable commercial fleet accounts. This is a position which would be a "work from home" position with some visits to our Ontario region offices.

The Risk Services Consultant - Fleet provides value added analysis and risk assessment of fleet operations to identify exposures or areas of concern, evaluate controls and develop recommendations or action plans to improve risk and reduce potential for loss to the client. This is done by completing on-site consultations of the insureds' operations, research and review of safety codes and standards and completion of final report along with formal action plans or recommendations sent to the client, the commercial fleet underwriter’s respective brokers and insureds. The position also provides safety and technical training to brokers' underwriters and clients to educate them on how to make operations safer and reduce potential for loss. As an integral part of the Risk Services team, this position principally operates within the Waterloo and GTA Regions with periodic travel outside of this region depending upon workload. Some overnight travel will be required.

Specific Responsibilities: 
•    Complete Risk Services presentations to key accounts and brokers in support of writing and retaining profitable commercial fleet accounts
•    Interpret and communicate effectively to the insured fleet managers or owners on contents and requirements of the National Safety Code for Motor Carriers as required
•    Examine, evaluate and provide feedback and recommendations to our insured partners on detailed CVOR’s/carrier profiles of the provinces where clients operate vehicles in order to improve or comply with appropriate safety standards and regulations
•    Review a sample of insureds' driver files in order to assess and evaluate driver safety and compliance and to provide suggested recommendations for improvement to reduce potential loss i.e. Driver Fatigue policies
•    Examine and assess vehicle maintenance programs including vehicle maintenance schedules to ensure safe operation of insured vehicles and that compliance is completed in accordance to all regulatory vehicle inspection standards
•    Review and assess general fleet management strategies in relation to accident analysis, driver hours of service, cargo securement, transportation of dangerous goods, cross border requirements, etc. to provide recommendations for improvement if required
•    Preparation and delivery of claims trending analysis relating to driver and vehicle collision losses and provide report to fleet underwriters and insureds if required

•    Excellent interpersonal skills - written and verbal
•    Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
•    Team player adaptable to a changing environment

•    Completion of post-secondary education in the form of a technical diploma related to fleet safety and loss prevention (i.e. Certification in Transportation Safety in the motor carrier sector)
•    5 years’ experience in motor carrier fleet loss prevention
•    5 years’ experience in driving with an AZ license
•    Knowledge of the Provincial Highway Traffic Act and National Safety Code
•    Proficient in MS Word and Excel
•    Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in conducting insurance-related fleet inspections
•    CRM (Canadian Risk Management) or CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designations (or in progress) are considered an asset
