Job Description

Are you driven to understand risk?  Do others look to you for your assessment and perspective on process and strategy?  Do you get excited about words like optimization, efficiency and clarity?

If you answered yes, we should talk. This is your opportunity to help shape SGI CANADA’s future as a major Canadian P&C insurance player.  As part of the senior leadership team, you’ll be instrumental in developing the best practices and risk appetite for our personal lines underwriting.  Engaging others through effective communication and collaboration, you will inspire your team to implement changes that support operational excellence and sustainable growth while maintaining a global view in the process design, monitoring and governance of underwriting and an integrated view with product management.

We’re looking for well-rounded experience in personal lines underwriting, an analytical perspective, and strong business acumen to visualize and deliver on the bigger strategic picture. To build this vision and support your team, we’ll need you to spend at least the first two years in our Regina-based head office, and we are willing to discuss solutions that will meet your personal work-life balance needs.

Inspirational, business savvy, big picture thinking. You are ready to be the business leader we can count on to realize the growth opportunities we see in this rapidly evolving industry.

Candidates must bring the education and experience to succeed in this unique opportunity — after all, we’re counting on you.  We are looking for candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree in insurance and risk management, business administration or commerce, mathematics, statistics or actuarial science or a related discipline.  Candidates will also bring at least eight years management experience with increasing responsibility in personal lines, as well as a minimum of three years experience in a technical insurance, statistical, actuarial or finance position.  An alternative combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Because when you start here, you want to stay here.  SGI has made the cut as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for ten straight years for a lot of good reasons! We offer a wide range of benefits and invest in career development for our employees. We embrace diversity, recognizing and celebrating our differences and our similarities.  With careers as diverse as our employees, join our caring culture of employee empowerment within a great community of people.
