Job Description

Reporting to the Underwriting Manager, the Personal Lines Supervisor plays a vital role in helping the company to meet its Strategic Plan by leading a team and making sound underwriting decisions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, mentorship and development to personal lines team
  • Supports underwriters with complex policies
  • Provides guidance and authority on policy approvals
  • Provides aid on rate changes
  • Evaluates individual and group performance, develop competencies, and inspire team members to achieve results
  • Monitors and shares information regarding competitors
  • Supports internal and external audits
  • Completes month end reporting
  • Reviews Accommodation files with underwriters
  • Consults with Management on underwriting and staffing issues



  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate at an accredited post secondary institute (an asset)
  • Actively working towards or has obtained, CIP/FCIP Designation
  • Progressive underwriting experience within the insurance industry
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to motivate, coach and develop team members
  • Excellent computer literacy and keyboarding skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Adapts to change and performs effectively under pressure
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Thoroughly considers all relevant information to make sound decisions
  • Attention to detail
  • Is a dynamic individual who exhibits a high degree of professionalism when representing Wawanesa
