Intact Insurance is seeking a Business Development Manager who will drive strong relationships and sales of a wide breadth of products in Specialty Solutions, including: Niche Property, Stand-alone Equipment Breakdown, Programs, Errors and Omissions (E&O), Directors and Officers (D&O), Marine, Farm, Long-haul Trucking and other specialized classes of Commercial Auto. Intact Insurance is also a leading provider of Surety Bonds. Combined, these products represent approximately $600 million in Direct Premiums Written.
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in working with the different levels of the organization as well as the staff at our broker partners’ offices. In doing so, you will promote Intact and its products with the ultimate purpose of retaining and growing profitable multi-lines of business to reach Intact’s target market plan and objectives.
With this purpose in mind, you will:
•Work closely with the Director of Specialty Solutions and be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of broker relationship strategies
•Build, train and coach brokers on systems, new rating programs, pricing methodology, products and basic sales skills
•Working with Sales and Business Development to assist brokers with designing and implementing growth and profitability strategies
•Act as a liaison and problem solver between operations and brokers
•Use your extensive underwriting experience and negotiation skills to provide technical advice, recommendations and solutions to brokers in managing quotes, renewals and risk exposures
•Provide brokers with creative solutions including advertising, sales support, operational analysis, and business planning
•Build internal and external relationships and maintain a network of contacts promoting Intact Insurance’s brand
•Build, implement and monitor sales and incentives programs within the brokerages
•Collect market intelligence information regarding various topics, such as products, pricing, broker compensation, market volumes etc.
This position can be based in Calgary or Edmonton.
•5 to 7 years of experience in insurance (brokering or underwriting) or in sales (any industry)
•Demonstrate learning agility
•Think creatively and outside of the box
•Confident in cold calling/closing the sale/asking for the deal
•Must have strong presentation skills
•Willing and able to be on the road/travel 3 days/week
•Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
•University or College Degree Preferable
•Completion of CIP or FCIP is preferred
