Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, Administration and Technology (CFO), the Director of Finance maintains the financial records and oversees the daily transactions for the books of accounts of the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Foundation and the Canadian Bar Law for the Future Fund. In addition, the Director exercises the same responsibilities for the following organizations: Canadian Association of Law Teachers, the Foundation for Legal Research, and the Canadian Superior Courts Judges Association and Foundation. The practical and functional responsibilities amount to the maintenance of monthly statements preparation, 6-12 audits per year, a six month budgeting cycle for each entity and managing a staff of six or more while being a hands-on part of the finance team.
The optimal candidates have a minimum of 5 years experience in a controller or manager position, in a medium sized association, not-for-profit or other entity and are looking for a larger, more complex and exciting opportunity. You are ambitious and comfortable with the multi-functioning role of a busy schedule and reporting cycle with the end product consisting of solid and complete financial results and forecasts to the Senior Director (CFO) and Board of Directors, achieved through providing direction and support to your finance team. A recognized accounting designation is required for this opportunity and a desire to use this role as a great opportunity for future career ambitions
