Position and Responsibilities
This position reports to the manager, construction management office and is part of the major projects division. The major projects division is located in the Saskatoon office, however, this position is located in Port Hope. The construction manager is directly accountable for construction work executed by the major projects division at the Port Hope Conversion Facility site. The VIM project in Port Hope is a large, long-term investment that addresses legacy waste from historic operations at the site. The VIM project includes removal of inherited waste materials, removal of surplus buildings, refurbishment of buildings to improve the efficiency of the site and improvements to site infrastructure such as buried and above ground utilities and services.
You will be responsible for managing the construction work on several projects including Cameco's Vision in Motion (VIM) project. You will work with the project manager to provide construction co-ordination, contractor management and adherence to construction drawings and technical specifications. You will be responsible to ensure all construction work executed at the site meets Cameco's safety, health, environmental and quality standards.
You will work with the project team to develop detailed construction schedules and plans and will manage the construction effort to those plans. You will be the primary contact for all construction activities and will work closely with contractors and the integrated Cameco team to ensure project scope is delivered on-time and on-budget.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Degree or diploma in engineering or physical sciences or a journeyperson certificate
- A minimum of eight to 12 years of construction management experience
- Supervisory experience is a must
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of SAP and project systems
- Experience managing multi discipline functions
