The Faculty of Applied Science's School of Engineering at UBC's Okanagan campus has assembled world-class faculty and developed an innovative engineering curriculum to offer undergraduate and graduate engineering degrees in Electrical, Civil, and Mechanical specializations. The campus is situated in one of the most scenic and appealing regions in Canada and offers faculty and students an intimate learning environment and exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary and region-centred research. The School of Engineering is located in a new state-of-the-art building completed in 2011.
The School of Engineering invites outstanding individuals to apply for the following Electrical Engineering tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. Applicants must have strong records demonstrating outstanding research, as well as a commitment to quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D., in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, and should either have, or be eligible to pursue, registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.

Electrical Engineering: Power Systems/Electronics/Drives (Job Opening ID #29017)
Desirable areas of research expertise include power systems, power electronics, and/or motor drives. Applications in solar energy, smart-grids, distributed generation, electric transportation, and drives for electric vehicles, advanced manufacturing and aircraft are especially relevant. The candidate must be able and willing to teach courses at all levels, including first-year math and science courses, upper-level design courses, and graduate courses.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated research excellence, exceptional communication skills, and effective teaching. Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is an asset. Experience with undergraduate and graduate student supervision is desirable. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in departmental service and activities, with a broad network of engineers in academic and industry settings. The successful candidate, in collaboration with existing faculty members, will foster and promote entrepreneurial aspiration of the students and the School-at-large. Evidence of establishing international collaboration would be an asset.
