Scope and Responsibilities
The deployment of field representatives constitutes one of the strategic elements of Faculty Bargaining Services. The field representative plays four main roles:
- Labour relations expert who responds to institutional requests on academic bargaining and contract administration matters and initiates contact with participating institutions to help them access the resources of Faculty Bargaining Services;
- Collects all pertinent information about the bargaining status of his/her assigned institutions and assists universities in completing settlement summaries;
- Contributes as a member of a Faculty Bargaining Services team to a body of knowledge on Canadian academic labour relations by researching and developing special reports, manuals, data templates, training packages on bargaining and academic contract administration; and
- Acts as a promoter of Faculty Bargaining Services.
- Extensive senior university labour relations experience, preferably at the level of Vice-President or Associate Vice-President.
- Graduate degree desired.
- Superior communication and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with Quebec labour relations and related legislation.
- Two-year renewable contract commencing April 1st 2018.
- 7.5 hours (on average) per week, invoiced monthly
- Travel and accommodation expenses covered to carry out responsibilities.
- The work of the Field Representative is coordinated by the Director of Faculty Bargaining Services.
